Norman Conquests

Cover illustration for a historical board game called Norman Conquests (Men of Iron).
The Battle of Hastings was fought in October 1066 between the Norman-French army of William, the Duke of Normandy, and an English army under the Anglo-Saxon King Harold Godwinson, beginning the Norman Conquest of England. The Normans were descendants of vikings that established kingdoms in Normandy and became acculturated by the Franks and Gallo-French. In 1066 they would cross the channel and acquire lands in England - deposing the Anglo-Saxon aristocracy. From this new Norman-french speaking aristocracy the modern English language developed as a hybrid of Anglo-Saxon and Norman French.
My client loves the mace but my research shows that the Duke would use a blunt weapon which I believe was the weapon of choice giving the type of armor in that time period. Illustration created by Kurt Miller
